History of Topkapi Palace

 

The palace had four main courtyards and a number of structures, including apartments, kitchens, mosques, a hospital, and other structures. Nearly 4,000 people lived in the state at its height. The Ottoman Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror ordered the building of Topkapi Palace in 1459 AD, and it was completed in 1478 AD.
